We’re half way through the year. Back-to-school supplies will soon be picked over at Target, fall decor as well. Creepy grim reapers will stand tall in gas station doorways and talk of the holidays will surface once again.
“I can’t believe how fast this year is going.”
I can hardly remember what I purposed to accomplish this year but I hope I’m on track. Though I can’t remember what I’ve done.
I glance at my photos in a monthly view to check.
It actually looks pretty good. There was a wedding and an engagement. A beach party. A hard trip to NJ. A graduation. Italy. Hume Lake. Plus too many pictures of beer and pets.
And I can see laughs and a few tears. New friends and old.
The past just doesn’t excite like the future. We don’t look forward to it. The brain moves memory around to short and long term storage in places we forget to check. Some it just sort of fades away. We have to choose to remember in order to reflect. And we have to reflect in order to feel.
As I look back on this year I feel grateful. There has been a lot of life.
And we’re only half way through.
